March 9, 2020

Dublin, 9th March 2020 - Commercial property specialists CBRE Ireland today released plans for a new Family Policy for all staff based at their Dublin and Cork offices, to take effect from April 2020.

The policy, launched by the CBRE Ireland ‘Balance in Business Network’, will include an enhanced maternity and paternity leave package for all employees. The new Maternity Policy will mean enhanced pay of up to 100% of salary for staff that have been employed for more than 2 years and up to 50% of salary for those employed less than 2 years. The new Paternity Policy will mean full paternity pay for 1 month - 2 weeks to be taken immediately after the birth of the child, the other 2 weeks to be taken at any point within the first 18 months of the child’s life.

CBRE Ireland already offer flexible working arrangements for staff.

Other highlights of the new policy include:

  • Support for those going through IVF, adoption or surrogacy - not just in relation to maternity/paternity/adoptive leave and pay, but in relation to support that may be needed such as flexible working patterns for those going through IVF or the adoption assessment process etc;
  • A ‘Return to Work’ programme for women returning to work after maternity leave, or someone returning to work after an extended period of leave.  A specific ‘Maternity Buddy’ scheme will also be launched and run by the ‘Balance in Business Network’;
  • Family Leave for Dependents – providing support for anyone going looking after an elderly or ill parent/child or close relative, which could include flexible working or adjustments to day-to-day patterns of work to help ease the burden

"I am delighted that CBRE Ireland is introducing this policy - we recognise as a business the importance of supporting our staff through not only the joyful periods of their lives, but also helping through times of adversity, be it looking after a sick child or parent – supporting staff through the whole life cycle from helping work/life balance for those with young kids, to helping others care for elderly parents.  We embrace flexible working in our culture already, and an enhanced Family Policy only cements our Diversity and Inclusion commitment to our staff and clients."
Myles Clarke, Managing Director, CBRE Ireland

The policy will be effective from April 2020.
