If you are looking for work experience as an intern and/or Transition year student please apply via the careers portal below.
I was pursuing a masters in real estate finance & investment at UWE Bristol in the UK, and wanted to gain professional experience during the summer break. I had heard great things about CBRE Ireland and thought getting an internship there would give me the chance to discover a country I had never been to before.
I joined the hotels team where I was mainly working in brokerage, preparing marketing material to put hotels on the market, attending inspections with prospective buyers and producing marketing updates for clients on a weekly basis.
Although I was working in the hotels team, I met people from all the other service lines and speaking with people who are dealing with assets that are very different from hotels. This really broadened my perspective and understanding of the property business.
CBRE employees take part in events and organise all sorts of activities throughout the year and I had the opportunity to participate in the summer BBQ, a football competition, after work yoga on the terrace, healthy breakfasts on Wednesday mornings (Wellness Wednesdays) and many other opportunities.
I would highly recommend joining CBRE for a summer internship if you get the chance.
I completed my four-month internship in CBRE as a part of my third year programme in Business and Management at DIT. It was during this period that I discovered that I had an interest in real estate. Even though I didn’t have a background in the property industry CBRE were still happy to welcome me as part of their team. This gave me the chance to see if this career was one that I wanted to pursue.
At CBRE I was given the opportunity to work in many service lines within the business. I completed my first month with the research department and for me this was the ideal team to start with, as it enabled me to gain a better knowledge and insight into the property industry in general. My second month was spent with the marketing team, again it was great to get this experience behind me before moving into agency because it’s important to know what stands out and will get noticed within commercial property. The remaining two months I spent with the office agency team which I loved. In such a short period of time I gained so much knowledge of the market and invaluable hands on experience. It also helped that the team were so welcoming and let me play an active role in as many projects as possible.
My time spent in CBRE was a truly worthwhile experience, not only did it help me to establish the career path that I want to pursue, I also got the chance to meet some of the most genuine and talented people. I know that I have made some lifelong friends from the short time I spent with CBRE. There were so many activities outside of work hours that we were all encouraged to get involved in, and some fun nights out too!
